Keeping it real

So if you don't know already I really love everyday wearable fashion. Though if I am going to be completely honest in the winter there are those days were I don't feel like getting dressed or I have no clue what to wear. I think the cold blah months has something to do with it (I don't like the cold)! So when I have no idea what to wear I tend to go for something comfy. Though the problem with comfy clothes is often times they don't look cute. So I fianlly came up with a SUPER comfy outfit that I think looks semi-stylish. Now don't get me wrong its not the most fashionable outfit but it works for me. I believe that everyone should have a "go to outfit" that you can be gartennted to always want to wear no matter your mood. This is my go to outfit, but yours might be competly different. I mean maybe your deffeniton of comfy is a pair of jeans. Just find what you feel the most comfy, confident and stylish in and you have your "go to outfit". Ok enough said here is my look....

1. Jacket- Its Patagonia and I got it for my birthday last year. Its really expensive but to me its so worth it. Its one of those investment pieces. (same jacket- the color is raw linen)
2. Black Leggings- I got these last year from Sam's Club in a 2 pack. I live in leggings so I always need more and these were a great deal! (similar)
3. Riding boots- These are from Aerosoles and they are a few years old. (same boots- REALLY on sale now)
4. Purse- Its from Francesca's collection which I got last year. (same purse) (similar)
5. Stud earrings- There from Target (earrings)

PS: I love listening to music when working on the computer and I recently downloaded the Spotify app. If you like music then I think you will love this. I can't believe I am saying this but I like it more then Pandora. You can listen to all the songs you want and its not as random as Pandora.

Fancy outfit

Ok so I wore this to a fancy event over the weekend and I thought I would share with you the dress. I was running late so the pictures were taken in like 2 seconds, so sorry for the bad quality. I also do not love the tights with the dress but it was so cold out so I kind of had to wear them! Sometimes you have to put practicality before looking cute :) Anyways with all that aside I decided to still show you my look because I want my blog to be a true impression of me and what I wear.

1. Dress is Elle brand from Kohl's and I got it last year (similar) (Luv this dress) (similar)
2. Black tights
3. Nude pumps are form Payless and I got them last year (same ones)
4. Bangle is Bombay duck brand and I got it at a boutique a few years ago (similar) (similar)

Best lemon cake recipe ever!

Last weekend I made one of my favorite recipes for a simple, cheap and really easy cake recipe. Every time I make this I remember how much I love it (and the rest of my family). The cake is SUPER moist and its the perfect combination of sweet with a bit of sour from the lemon. The recipe is from emeals and her it is...

Pantry Lemon Cake with Lemon Buttercream Frosting: (recipe website)
Ingredients:
1 c butter, softened
2 c sugar
4 eggs
1 T lemon zest
¼ c lemon juice
1 t vanilla extract
2 1/3 c all-purpose flour
2 ½ t baking powder
¼ t salt
1 c buttermilk
FROSTING:
1 c butter, softened
2 T lemon zest
¼ c lemon juice
2 T milk
5 c powdered sugar
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350˚. Spray a 13 x 9 baking dish with nonstick baking spray. Coat with flour. Beat butter and sugar with a mixer til creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well. Beat in lemon zest, lemon juice and vanilla. Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Gradually add to butter mixture, alternately with buttermilk, beating just until combined. Spoon into prepared pan. Bake for 35 – 45 min, or until a wooden pick inserted in center of cake comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 min. Turn cake upside down on a rectangular serving tray. Cool and spread frosting over top and sides of cake.
Frosting: Beat butter, lemon zest, lemon juice and milk with a mixer until creamy. Gradually beat in powdered sugar til smooth.

The yellow on the top is food coloring not cheese! Haha
I hope you love this recipe as much as I do and have fun making it for your next party, baby shower, birthday or just to eat.

PS: Sunday I am starting a special series that I am going to do every other Sunday which I am really excited about!

Welcome

Welcome to my very first blog post!! I am so excited to be starting a blog so I can share my passion and love of all things girly. My blog is going to be about fashion, baking, DIY/crafting, beauty and lifestyle. I have loved fashion for as long as I can remember. Now when I mean fashion I am talking everyday wearable fashion that you too could recreate and get inspiration from. I love shopping and being able to find good deals because it makes it more fun that way. Fashion and baking allows me to express my self creativly. I love getting dressed in the morning and picking out what I am going to wear. So through my blog I hope to bring you inspiration and maybe brighten up your day. My love of fashion and everything else I love grew even stronger when I discovered fashion blogs and Youtube. J's everyday fashion will always have a special place in my heart as it is the first fashion blog I ever discovered and I am not even sure how. All I know is that I would check her posts everyday and get ideas as I still do. I went on to discover the world of Youtube. I had no idea people posted videos about fashion and beauty. I loved the idea and I become addicted to watching videos all the time. These videos and blogs would brighten up my day and give me that bit of creativity. So now more than a few years later after discovering the world of blogs and Youtube I thought it would be so fun to start my own blog.  I have been wanting to for a while but was never sure if I should really do it. I was afraid my ideas would not be unique or any different though I have come to realize that it does not matter to me because it is doing something I love and I hope you will be able to see that threw my blog. I realized that I did not want this dream just to be a dream I wanted it to be a reality and that is what I am doing I am making my dream a reality. So with the help of my sister here goes a new fun and some what scary adventure.

PS: Stayed tuned for my first fashion blog which will be published on Wednesday!
