Year of Fun: January 2017

As the first day of February is here tomorrow I thought you guys might like to hear about what fun things I did for the first month of the new year. My new years resolution for 2017 was to make an effort to plan one fun thing a week and so far I am loving doing this! It allows me to try new things I have always wanted to do and it makes each week enjoyable even if life gets a bit crazy. So I plan on doing this every month with you guys to share what I do!

Trip To Florida // I started off the new year right away by taking a trip to Florida to visit my grandparents with one of my best friends. This trip was so much fun as I not only got to see family but I also got to spend it with a great friend. We went shopping, took an air boat ride, ate lots and went swimming!

Tips For Landing An Internship

Since I posted my announcement that I got a job this summer in Hilton Head Island I want to start posting a few more career related posts. I have not shared too much about my career and major but I feel I can help a lot of other college students as well. So today I thought I would share with you six tips that I believe have helped me land the two internships I have had so far. These tips can easily be applied to any interview you may have. I hope you enjoy this different posts as I plan on sharing more like this. Also please comment any other tips you might have so we can help each other out!
The Earlier The Better // When companies begin to hire for summer interns they want to have their staff set in place pretty earlier. Which means its better to apply earlier then later. This is especially true in the hospitality industry and I am sure it's true for most industries. I had heard back from both companies that I have gotten positions with right around the new year. Which means you can't wait until the last minute and expect to find anything.

Valentines Day Gift Guide 2017

Yesterday morning I didn't have class until 12:30 and so I planned on getting up early and having a super productive day however I did the exact opposite of that. I literally laid in bed until the last possible second. Though I am feeling much more recharged and productive to do so I guess the lazy morning did me well. As Valentines Day is only about two weeks away which might be hard to believe I am sharing my gift guide for this year. I tried to include a mix of fashion, beauty, jewelry, and unique goodies. To me I think valentines gifts should be about fun gifts you would never spend our own money on but that would be fun to get as a gift (i.e.: silk pillowcases)! I even included a local Buffalo favorite that I always enjoy getting from my parents for Easter and Christmas! What's your idea of the perfect Valentines Day gift?

Life Update: Moving To South Carolina?

I am beyond excited to share with y'all some exciting news I found out just before Christmas! I was offered a summer recreation internship position at the SeaPines Resort in Hilton Head Island. I still really can not believe I will be living there for the summer. If you have been following along on my blog for a while now then it's no surprise that Hilton Head is one of my favorite places on earth. There is just something about this place that I love. While obviously I am there to gain work experience I am excited to not only do that but explore more of the area when I can. While I originally had not planned on going away for a second summer in a row (last summer I was in Baltimore) the opportunity was just too good to not accept. I will be living in an apartment with the other interns and my grandparents don't live to far away so I can always visit them! I bought this sign while in Hilton Head last summer and I have it hanging right above my bed in my dorm room. It's funny because I could have never imagined I would actually be living their this summer. Funny how thinks work out. While I was a bit nervous about taking another internship position that is a bit different then my original interests I think it will be a great experience for me. I can not wait to share more of my experience with the job and my trips to the beach on my days off. While last summer I really did not share my internship experience with y'all at all I want to try to share more this time around. I also am planning on posting more posts related to jobs, my major, and my experience last summer in the coming weeks. In the mean time make sure to check out my previous travel logs from Hilton Head (here & here)!

Video Sunday: Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale Haul

One of my goals for the blog in 2017 is to upload more videos to give you a different look into my life! I love filming videos it's everything else that comes along with it (aka: the uploading) that I don't love as much. It just is going to take some practice and time. Anyways last year I tried to start a series "Video Sunday" where I upload a video of some kind every Sunday! So I am going to try my best to bring this series back. To kick things off I am sharing with you a Lilly Pulitzer After Party sale haul to share with you everything I got! I was in Florida while the sale was going on so I was able to shop in stores so I wanted to share with you all that I got. The sale had a great selection both in stores and online. If you are not aware Lilly Pulitzer has two sales every year. One is always in the beginning of January and the second one is always at the end of August. Be sure to follow Lilly on social media to get details as to when the sale dates become available. They usually only give a few days notice! Anyways I hope you enjoy this haul and please let me know of another videos you would like me to film!

Friday Favs

Happy Friday everyone we made it through the second week of 2017! This weekend I have to work a few hours everyday but we are also planning on going to see the movie Jackie at the movie theaters. I also have to start packing up my room as I start classes on Tuesday. I have lots of favorites from fashion, beauty, food, movies and music to share with you today!

Navy Toms: I recently bought a pair of toms after the holidays while shopping. I have been thinking about getting a pair for a while but I never knew what color to get until I saw the navy ones. The navy toms are perfect to wear with a casual outfit with skinny jeans. I have already gotten tons of wear out of them. They are so comfortable and I wish I would have bought these earlier!

Easy Key Lime Pie Recipe

I head back to the cold weather tomorrow morning so I am going to make this post super quick as my alarm is set for 3:30am. I wanted to change things up a bit today and share a family favorite recipe with y'all. I have been a long time lover of key lime pie so when my grandma made this one year for dessert I was hooked. It's light and refreshing after a big dinner. The best part about it is that you only need four ingredients and it literally takes five minutes to make! We seem to always mange to have this every time I visit at least once so I wanted to pass the recipe along. It makes the perfect dessert for parties because it's so easy. Let me know if you try this recipe out!

New Years Goals For 2017

The past two years I have shared my goals for the new year with you (20152016). While I really do not have to many different things then last year I thought I would still share the things I really want to focus on improving in my life. Last year I split my goals into professional and personal however as I looked back on my professional goals from last year I really didn't accomplish too many. So I am just going to stick with the same professional goals. As for personal I accomplished quite a bit of my goals in 2016 so I manly just want to keep up with what I am already doing! As I mentioned in my Dear 2016 post 2017 is going to be the year I focus on fun. So my main focus for 2017 is going to be doing just that! What are your goals for the new year?
Do One Fun Thing A Week
My goal is to plan one fun thing a week to do in order to keep the year fun and have something to always look forward to once I head back to school and get back into the daily grind. These fun things can be as simple as going out to eat. My plan is to share what I do for each month here on the blog!

Dear 2016...

Every year I like to reflect on the past year when the new year arrives to remember all the things that happened and to help improve for the coming year. The past two years I have made a video highlighting all my top moments of the year. Though this year I really just did not feel like doing that so I thought I would write a post and share some pictures with you from the past year! I wanted to write a letter to 2016 to reflect and move on from the past year. This is a bit different from my normal posts but I really wanted to share it with you.

Happy New Year

You might be wondering where I have been so I wanted to hop on here quick and let you know I should be back to posting tomorrow! Yes I still planning on blogging in 2017 but these past few days have been very busy. I worked New Years Eve and then we celebrated at a restaurant with dessert when I got home. I was off yesterday but I spent the day resting up and packing for my trip to Florida. I leave to tomorrow REALLY early in the morning and I cant wait to head to some warmer weather for a week. One of my best friends is going with me and it should be tons of fun. I worked all day again today needless to say I have had absolutely no time to write a blog post. I have a bunch of ideas for posts and I have taken a lot of outfit posts in the past few weeks that I can't wait to share with you. I also have some New Years resolutions I want to share with you. I planned on writing a post about my 2016 and saying "goodbye" to the year. I really want to share my thoughts on the year but I am way to tired to do that tonight. So I promise I will be back to posting tomorrow life just got in the way! Goodnight 😴

PS: I hope you had an awesome New Year and I hope you have a great 2017
