Loving Outdoor Voices New Arrivals

When I visited Austin this summer I went into the Outdoor Voices flag ship store and get their exercise dress for my birthday. I had a few pieces from them but have recently purchased a few new items from them. I noticed some really cute new items that came out I wanted to share. While I don't think I will be purchasing any of these items anytime soon because you know budgeting (ugh) I am loving this sweatshirt and just might have to get it at some point!

Madewell Does It Again (Mid-Rise Perfect Vintage Jean)

I definitely can get behind the non-skinny jean trend. I have about two favorite pairs of jeans that are my go-to ones and the rest don't really get worn. The two that I have are more on the edge of a skinny jean. I do like the look of more straight-cut jeans but don't like high-rise. I had tried on a few pairs here and there and they all looked so bad on me. I normally end up looking like a boy or they just don't fit right. Jeans are such a hassle. Last month I decided on a total whim to try on this new style of jeans when I was in Madewell. I had a birthday coupon for $25 off my purchase. Which side note if you are not on the Madewell rewards you need to be because the birthday coupon along was such a deal! When I was in the store I didn't really have any plans on even trying on jeans. But this mid-rise pair intrigued me so I decided to try them on. I thought they fit good but kind of wanted to try them one size down which they were sold out of. I ended up ordering them online and went with the original size I had tried on. So I went with the 27 which is my normal size in jeans even though some of the reviews said they ran large.

I love the wash and cut of them. They fit me really well and are so comfortable. If you have a shorter torso and larger legs these might just be the perfect pair. I will say my mom tried them and actually didn't like them at all. Jeans just vary so much from person to person but I had to share these because I am loving them!

I also fell in love with Madewell's jean shorts this summer. Read the post here

Books I Read This Summer (2021)

Growing up I was NOT a reader at all. The only times I would read was if it was for school. Over the past few years, I have started to read a bit more especially in the summer months when traveling and laying at the pool. This summer I did a lot more reading than usual and really enjoyed it. I find that Reese Witherspoon's book recommendations are usually very good! Let me know any books you read this summer I should check out.
1. Big Summer by Jennifer Weiner // This was the first book I read this summer after finding it at Target and picking it up based on reading the cover. This book did a good job keeping me interested and the ending was not what I had originally expected. This book is part friend drama, part mystery, and part romance. I did enjoy this book but would have to give it about 3.5/5 stars based on the other books I read this summer.

Summer Favorites

Well, the summer is coming to an end already (insert crying emoji) and I am back in Buffalo for the weekend. I am enjoying the last few days of summer for a friend's wedding. Once I head back to Dallas next week it won't exactly feel like fall which is nice but my summer of travel will be over. It is funny because during Covid I really didn't think I was missing travel all that much but I guess I was. I loved going to new and favorite places and really taking time off to relax. I think I missed traveling way more than I realized. Having things to look forward to is key for me. Even though I am sad to see the summer go I am looking forward to the cooler weather, getting some goals accomplished, and I even head back into the office soon.

I think the last time I posted my monthly favorites was back in May so I decided to make one list of all my favorite products, food, clothes, etc. from the last three months. As always there is lots of randomness!

Overhyped or Underestimated: Our Place Pan

I am back with another honest product review with an item that has been all over Instagram and social media. If you missed my first installment of this new series I am doing be sure to check it out here. I did a full review of Blue Apron. For today's review, we are going to be talking all about the Our Place pan. I kept seeing it promoted all over and around the holidays I was looking for a bigger pan to cook my Blue Apron meals in. Most of the meals just require one large pan but the one I had was just a bit too small. I did some research on different options but decided to go with the Our Place pan. The reviews were pretty good, the size seemed perfect, and it was a nontoxic nonstick pan.

What I Got For My Birthday & Pictures From The Weekend

For my birthday this year I spent the weekend in Florida with my mom and sister visiting my grandparents! It was the perfect relaxing weekend with a few beach trips, Countryside Citrus orange ice cream, champagne, a homemade charcuterie board, pedicures, and a game of golf. Before I left I filmed this birthday video that I thought I would share along with some vacation pictures.

The Perfect Jeans Shorts: Madewell Relaxed Denim Shorts

I am so excited about this post because jean shorts are impossible to find the perfect pair. They are either too short, way overpriced, not wide enough in the legs...and the list goes on. A ton of people have been talking about the Abercrombie shorts this summer and while I think they may be a good option I never could get my size in stock plus to me, they seemed a bit overpriced. I have a pair of older Abercrombie ones that I do wear often but they are a bit too short. I also have a really affordable pair I picked up from Target last summer. With that said I was still on the hunt for the perfect pair. I tried Loft, Banana Republic, and Old Navy and didn't like any of them. One night I decided to try my luck at another Google search. These Madewell ones came up and caught my eye because of the description. They seemed to have everything I was looking for. They were on sale so I decided to give them a try. I went off the reviews and sized down one size. When they arrived I was in total shock that they even fit and that I actually loved them. I bought them in two different color washes (Style 1 and Style 2) and have been wearing them ever since. Now, these probably will not be the perfect pair of jeans for everyone but if you are looking for what I describe then I would recommend these 100%!

Finally Getting Back To It & What I Have Been Up To

I am finally getting around to getting a new post up. Today was just one of those days where I had lots of "adulting" issues with bills, medications, and all that annoying stuff so I thought I would do something fun and finally get a new post up. The last month I had some dog training with Cooper that kept me busy. Then I went home to visit family for the 4th of July and then went on a mini Texas road trip for a summer vacation. I have been meaning to take some new photos for my about page since forever ago and finally got around to it when I was home over the 4th of July. My sister took them and they turned out so good I thought I would put them into a full blog post and also share some pictures of what I have been up to.

Last month I tried a new pair of jeans shorts on a whim and fell in love with them so I will be sharing that post tomorrow!

May 2021 Favorites

I can't believe it has already been almost three weeks since my last blog post. I have not been that busy recently but the weeks are still flying by. I have a bunch of trips planned in July and August this summer so I am kind of just taking it easy this month.
1. Athleta Warrior Long Line Sports Bra // There is an Athleta store pretty close to my apartment so when my mom was visiting at the beginning of May we walked down to the store. I had not been into an Athleta in a very long time. I was surprised by how many cute things they had. I ended up getting this sports bra in Navy. I don't know why it is so hard to find navy athletic wear. I have worn it a few times to workout and love it. It is long enough that I don't have to wear a tank top over it and it keeps me in place!

Overhyped or Underestimated: My Honest Review Of Blue Apron

I have had this idea for this blog series for a few months now and am finally getting around to posting the first edition. I have lots of product review ideas but want to make sure that I 100% review and test the product before posting my review. I got this idea because so often I see the same products promoted all over Instagram by the influencers I follow. I always wonder how great the products truly are and if people would actually spend their hard-earned money on the products they promote. In the last few months, I have tried a handful of "popular" products that I wanted to share my true thoughts on. All the products I will be reviewing in the series I have completely bought with my own money. I think part of the issue is with products being promoted on Instagram is there is not enough time to fully try the product out before hand. I am not saying bloggers promote products all the time without testing them out. What I am saying though is that I think oftentimes bloggers will try a product once or twice and really love it. They then promote the item but have they really used it enough or long enough to truly give an honest review?

So that is where I come into play. Anything I post in this series is going to be items I have fully used many times over and over again.

The first brand I am going to be reviewing is Blue Apron. Once in college, I had tried to order Hello Fresh but quickly got frustrated with it and gave up. Basically, it did not come on the day it was supposed to and I had plans for the weekend but had to wait around for the food to show up, and then the box was damaged in shipment so it never ended up coming. That kind of ruined my experience with meal deliveries as it seemed like a hassle and expensive. My mom started to try Blue Apron a few months ago and I quickly decided to give it a try after she kept raving about out it. I love it because I don't have to find recipes each week, my grocery store runs are for very few items, and I don't have to eat the same thing for a week when cooking for one. I also find that I don't hate the actually process of cooking as much as I used to. I did some research on different meal delivery brands as there are a TON out there. I didn't really want to try Hello Fresh again. I was tempted to try Sun Basket because they had a specific Gluten Free option but the price was not as good as Blue Apron. The only other one I have heard bloggers talk about is Home Chef but I decided to go with my mom's recommendation.

My Rating: 4.5 out of 5 ⭐️ (Underestimated)

Saturday Shopping: Summer Wants

I have been a little MIA on here the last few weeks. My mom was in town the first week in May for her birthday and we had tons of fun. I also have had a few days I have not felt amazing and have just kind of been feeling unmotivated to write a post. I have a few things I have been meaning to post I just have not gotten around to writing them. The weather is rainy tonight so I thought it was the perfect night to work on a new post. I stopped by the mall this afternoon looking for this J Crew tank. I also took a look in Loft and Lilly and spotted a few really cute items so I thought I would put together a summer inspiration board. I am loving all the breezy midi dresses this summer!

March & April 2021 Favorites

I feel like April flew by because Easter does not feel like it was a month ago. I never got around to posting my favorites for the month of March so I am combining it with April. I think this may be the most random assortment of products to date but I have been loving them all. Can you tell I was in the Spring cleaning mode?

1. Kind Frozen Ice Cream Bars // OMG I think these are the best non-dairy ice cream bars I have ever tried. I found them at Target and tried them on a whim. They come in a salted caramel and peanut butter flavor and are relatively "healthy" for ice cream. You have to give them a try if you have a sweet tooth!

Recent Skincare Tool Favorites & Dupes

In the last few months, I have discovered two amazing skincare tools that are pretty affordable! I bought a Clarisonic way back in the day when they were super popular on Youtube. While I did enjoy using it I hated spending the money on the brush heads. I always kept them probably way longer than I should have. Over the holidays I had gone to Ulta thinking I was going to buy a new brush head. Come to find out the company is now out of business and you can't buy the brush heads anymore. I stumbled upon this Flawless one which looked a lot like the Foreo but way cheaper. I have been using this since Christmas time and really don't have anything bad to say about it. The charge lasts a really long time, it has multiple settings/speeds, it is small enough to travel with, and it has a handle. Plus it is all silicon so you don't have to worry about the brush head getting dirty like the Clarisonic. I think I have charged it once since I got it months ago. While I don't use it every day on my skin it is gentle enough you definitely could.

The second tool I discovered more recently within the last month. It is this skin scraper that uses vibration to extract the gunk from your pores. I first saw the expensive Dermapore version on a few Instagram stories. Though I was definitely not wanting to spend $100 on a skincare tool that is only used about once a week. I ended up finding this dupe on Amazon that has tons of reviews. It seems to work great and it can be recharged. I have been using it around my nose because I hate how big my pores are. For how often you use it I think the Amazon version works just as well. Let me know if you have tried either of these before and what you think!

Weekend in Newport, Rhode Island | Travel Guide

For Easter weekend I flew to Newport, RH and my family drove up and we spent the weekend exploring the town. We all really loved it I would love to go back in the summer when it is a bit warmer. The weather was sunny but definitely chilly. Between Covid and it being off-season not everything was open but we still got to see a lot of the town. The only thing we would have done differently is to make sure we made more dinner reservations earlier in the week because things booked up really quickly that weekend.

The Perfect Spring Dress

I am so behind on blog posts! I have a whole list in my planner of post ideas but lately I have been so busy after work. Last week after I got back from a weekend away things were kind of crazy with some work emergencies and taking Cooper to the vet for his annual appointment. I will be sharing a travel guide for Newport tomorrow. In the meantime I wanted to share what I wore on Easter. Yes I know it is a few weeks late but this dress so cute. It is not available online from Target anymore but I did a quick search and there seems to be lots for sale on Poshmark.

I got this dress last year after Lonestar Southern had posted about it. The quality of it is amazing and it looks so cute on. It was from last summers Lisa Maria Fernandez clothing line at Target. I had never heard of her brand before then. I got another dress too which I shared a picture of last year

I wore these wedges for my college graduation and I forgot how much I love them. They were a total splurge for me considering I can't wear them very often but they are so cute and actually pretty comfortable considering how high they are.

Dallas Arboretum Spring Tulips

I 100% do not consider myself a "Dallas blogger" by any means but I do enjoy sharing some Dallas related things every now and then. This is one of those fun things I had to share! I have shared about the arboretum before as it is a great outdoor activity throughout the different seasons. Last year with Covid I never made it to see the tulips at the arboretum. So this year I made sure to check them out. The weather this past weekend was perfect and it was the perfect day to take my camera and get some pictures. I expected there to be quite a lot of tulips but wow there was a TON. It was definitely worth checking out! If you live in Dallas or ever visit between February-April I highly recommend checking out the tulips. They have different tulips that bloom throughout this time 🌷

I thought I would simply share with you these pretty pictures I got of them!

Lift Updates & Catching Up

It feels like it has been forever since I got a blog post up. I feel like I have been really busy or resting from not feeling great so I have not gotten around to posting recently. I have a few post ideas I have been meaning to work on but they are more in-depth review type posts. So I thought it would be fun just to catch up and chat on a bunch of random things.

1.  I Got The Covid Vaccine // I really can't believe it worked out but I was able to get an appointment an hour outside of Dallas at a CVS. A few weeks ago a Dallas blogger I follow posted some places that were offering the vaccine. I technically was able to qualify due to my autoimmune conditions so I went on the CVS website that night but nothing was open. So I signed up for the local county list too but never thought I would get an appointment. The next day I decided to check the CVS website again and they had appointments available. I quickly booked the two appointments and had my first Pfizer shot about two weeks ago and I go back for the next round this weekend. CVS made it super easy and was really happy with their service. I did end up getting a text the following week from the county but CVS seemed easier anyway. I did feel pretty crappy for the next two days after but I also have a lot of health issues so take my experience with a grain of salt. I am glad to be able to maybe start to get back to the gym at least after my second dose!

February Favorites 2021

Simple Mills Brownie Mix // I picked up this brownie mix last week at Whole Foods. I have tried a few of this brands products before but had never tried this. I was pleasantly surprised with how good these tasted! The ingredients are relatively "healthy". I will definitely be making these again soon. The only downside is the mix is on the pricy side but all you need to make them is butter, water, and eggs.

Spring Target Haul

I think it was two weeks ago now Target was having 20% off their clothes which they usually don't do. I go in spurts with their clothes but lately, I have been loving what I see. Their loungewear is amazing! I do find that the stores are normally pretty picked over and they had the dressing closed with Covid. Not sure if they are open now. I have a Red Card which I highly recommend if you shop at Target a lot. So I get free shipping so it was easy just to order everything online. I had zero clue if any of this stuff was going to look good but most of it was actually really cute. I also filmed a video over on Instagram if you want a better look at any of these items!

Target Universal Threads Embroidered Top // I think this is my favorite top out of all of them. I love the eyelet detailing and the ruffle. I was not sure if the ruffle was going to be too much but I am loving this all around. It also comes in black and a blue floral.

Spring Inspiration

This week the weather has been the perfect spring temperature and the sun has been shinning. A complete 360 from last weeks winter storm. It seems maybe a bit early to be jumping into spring but it is a nice change from all the cold weather. I wanted to share a few spring pieces I have seen from some of my favorite brands. How cure are these gingham sandals

Weekly Wellness: Health Update 2021

Wow this past week ended up turning into a crazy and some what stressful week. Sunday it started snowing here in Dallas which lead to millions waking up Monday without power and many without water. It was a crazy storm I was not expecting to get that bad especially growing up in the north but the city is not equipped for a few inches of snow. I luckily didn't lose power or have any damage from the storm but it was still very stressful not knowing. I filmed this health update video last week but I really just didn't have any energy to be posting this past week. I am rested up from the weekend and ready to get back into the swing of things.

It has been a LONG time since I last posted any type of health content so I thought it was about time for a health update. I have a bunch of other posts you can check out here! I also linked everything I mention in this video down below at the bottom of this post.

President's Day Sales 2021

It is still crazy cold here in Dallas and for some it is a holiday for President's Day so I thought I would round up some sales that are going on today. Target is having 20% off clothing which they normally don't have and J Crew Factory is having free shipping which is rare. I hate paying for shipping.

1. J Crew // 30% off most items and 50% off sale items with code SPRING

2. J Crew Factory // 50% off everything plus free shipping (no code needed). They rarely have free shipping anymore so this is a deal.

3. Loft // 40% off or 60% off with 3 plus styles with code WANT

4. Old Navy // Up to 50% off (no code needed)

5. Target // 20% off clothes and shoes with target circle at checkout

6. Vineyard Vines // Up to 60% off with code BIGSALE

My Go To Dinner Receipes (Dairy & Gluten Free) - Part 3

Happy Valentine's Day! I had a day inside relaxing because Dallas got snow today which is crazy. I hope you had a great weekend and enjoyed the holiday in a special way. I am about to dive into a red velvet cupcake so yep...

This will be my third installment in this series but I love to continue to share recipes I have tried and loved. Adding my take on how to make them dairy and gluten-free. With the holidays I had a long few months where I did not have to find recipes and cook. So I am sharing some recipes I tried this fall along with some more recent recipes I have tried. I have been loving Half Baked Harvest recipes lately. They all seem to have so much flavor but don't require a lot of crazy ingredients.

Check out version #one and #two of my posts!

* Note all images are from the recipe blogs

1. Vegan Alfredo Pasta // I just made this the other week and it turned out really good. It is naturally dairy-free and does not require too many ingredients. I used to be allergic to cashews but grew out of that nut which is great because a lot of dairy-free items often use cashews. It really is creamy and was easy to make with my Vitamix blender. I paired it with shrimp and broccoli.

January Favorites 2021

I have not shared a favorites post since I think November so these are my favorites combined over the last few months or so. Check out me last one here

1. Tula Brightening Eye Balm // I have heard so many bloggers talking about this Tula product. I had never tried any other Tula products but was a bit skeptical. It seemed like it might be one of those things that are overhyped. Though I am always looking for a product for my dark under eyes. I got it for Christmas and I am in love. I love the cooling effect it gives and it leaves this perfect small amount of shimmer. I am 100% hooked.

Weekend In San Antonio, TX | Travel Guide

Happy Friday! It has felt like a pretty slow week and I am ready for the weekend. After the holidays I drove back from NY to Dallas with my sister and mom. They stayed for about two weeks and we got to do some fun things in Texas while they were here. My sister's birthday also happened to be when they were here. Back in October, I had the idea to take my sister to San Antonio for a fun weekend getaway. At the time I booked the Airbnb I didn't know what Covid would be like but it was a great city to visit because we were pretty much able to do everything outside.

It definitely had a different "vibe" then Dallas but we all enjoyed the weekend and had a lot of fun. I wanted to share what we did for the weekend in case you are looking for suggestions. I must admit though most of these suggestions came from one my friends and she did not steer us wrong.

Friday

From Dallas to San Antonio it is about a four-hour drive. We left after the workday on Friday and got in around 11ish. We were glad we didn't leave in the early afternoon because we were able to avoid pretty much all the traffic going into Austin.

Saturday

We started our day eating breakfast at Supper inside Hotel Emma. This was one of the places that was recommended to me and let me tell you it did not disappoint. We did make reservations which was probably a good idea because it was fairly busy. We ate outside which overlooks the river. It was very cold that weekend but they provided us with blankets and there were heaters outside so it was not too bad. I had this really good omelette and herbal tea. We also tried the million-dollar bacon they are known for which was very good. My mom and sister got the beignets which they said were awesome but I couldn't have them so I guess I will have to take their word.

Valentine's Day Inspiration/Gift Ideas 2021

Valentine's Day is already in like two weeks (crazy)! I have been seeing lots of bright pinks and hearts everywhere so I thought it would be fun to but together a festive inspiration board. I am not necessarily making a specific gift guide per se but a lot of these items would make super cute gifts for yourself or others. I always love a good treat myself moment around the holiday.

My 2020 Review & Looking Ahead

Well, my extended holiday celebration is over and my apartment is back to just me. My sister and mom drove back to Texas with me after Christmas. We spent the last few weeks doing some fun weekend trips and checking out some Dallas spots. I loved having them here and waited to get a blog post up when I had a bit more free time.

I usually post a year-end recap highlighting all the things I did the past year and then share my goals for the new year. Obviously, this year looked very different and I was not sure if I wanted to share an end of the year post. I realize we are already a few weeks into the new year but I still wanted to get this up. If not for you but more for me to have this to look back on in the future.

2020.... I hesitated making a post about my year because all in all, it was a good year for me compared to most peoples. I had my job, was able to work from home, had Cooper to entertain me and I was able to at least get outside on walks and leave my appointment. Obviously, like everyone else, I did have my moments of crazy but I think we all did at some point. This year was not one of my worst years I would say it just felt very mundane. I kind of felt like I was doing the same thing over and over again because well I was. Sometimes it is hard for me to even really understand what others went through because I was pretty removed from all of it compared to doctors, teachers, etc. Like many others, I am grateful I got to connect with my family more and spendt the extended holidays back home. I got into some new crafts, had more time to blog, binged watched many shows, and got into watching TikTok 😂 I definitely missed traveling and weekend plans but I really did make the best of a crazy year. While I don't think I had any crazy life realizations like others may have had this year I did see how God prepared me for the year ahead without me fully understanding at the time. I started the year reading this book by Emily Ley. In the book she talks all slowing down, finding rest/hobbies, and being ok not being busy 24/7. Haha was that the perfect book to read at the start of the year. I also came to realize how my health struggles the past few years prepared me for this year. Everyone was talking about how our lives changed overnight. I read some article a while back that said in a way we experienced grief for what things were life pre-Covid. I experienced that exact feeling when I began my health journey. Pretty much overnight I no longer was the same and had to adjust to this "new" life. Let me tell you it was NOT easy. I felt all the things for quite some time. In a way, I was prepared for Covid so I can only imagine how hard some struggled if I think back to when I was deep into the height of my illness. So for 2021, I am not sure what to expect but I am hopeful for the new year! I thought about setting some resolutions but instead, I am going to take the pressure off of that and see what things I decide I want to focus on. I will say my goals for 2020 are still things I want to focus on this year or at least in some way.

There were some pretty great times in the year that I wanted to look back on:

Took a candle making class in Dallas when my sister was in town

What I Got For Christmas 2020

Happy New Year! I got back to Dallas last week and had a very chill New Year's at home with snacks and champagne. I have been getting back into the work routine and making some new resolutions for the new year. I will be sharing all that soon but in the meantime, I wanted to share what I got for Christmas this year. I used to film this video every year a few years ago but have not in the last few years. I thought it would be fun to share what I got for my apartment and a few clothing items. I was able to link mostly everything below. I would love to know what your favorite gift was this year!
