Books I Read This Summer (2021)

Growing up I was NOT a reader at all. The only times I would read was if it was for school. Over the past few years, I have started to read a bit more especially in the summer months when traveling and laying at the pool. This summer I did a lot more reading than usual and really enjoyed it. I find that Reese Witherspoon's book recommendations are usually very good! Let me know any books you read this summer I should check out.
1. Big Summer by Jennifer Weiner // This was the first book I read this summer after finding it at Target and picking it up based on reading the cover. This book did a good job keeping me interested and the ending was not what I had originally expected. This book is part friend drama, part mystery, and part romance. I did enjoy this book but would have to give it about 3.5/5 stars based on the other books I read this summer.

2. People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry // Wow this book did not disappoint! I kept seeing it on my TikTok page and decided to read this as my second book. This is definitely a romance novel but in a complicated way. Each chapter jumps between the present day and flashbacks to previous years while two best friends travel to various places. There is a big event that seems to have created a strain in their relationship that keeps getting brought up but you don't know the details of the event until much later in the book. Up until the very end, I really didn't know how it was going to end. The book did a good job of wrapping everything up though. I would definitely give this book 5/5 stars which I rarely do.

3. We Were Never Here by Andrea Bartz // This book was Reese's book club pick for the month of August and after seeing it on Instagram I was intrigued. It is a murder-type thriller book which I normally don't read but it was so juicy. From the first page, it has lots of twists and turns. There was definitely no getting bored with this book. Just when you think you have the plot figured out another crazy turn pops up. I was so into this book I was reading every night for a good week and never turned the TV on which is rare for me. I would also give this 5/5 stars easily.

4. Untamed by Glennon Doyle // I actually bought this book last summer and just never got around to reading it. To switch things up from all my beach reads I decided to finally read this book. It is a biography/self-help book of sorts. I like how each chapter is like a short story so you can read as little or as much as you want. It took me a few chapters to really get into it but I did enjoy it. I thought the way she told her stores and the advice/lessons she gave was amazing. I would give this one 4/5 stars.
