Lift Updates & Catching Up

It feels like it has been forever since I got a blog post up. I feel like I have been really busy or resting from not feeling great so I have not gotten around to posting recently. I have a few post ideas I have been meaning to work on but they are more in-depth review type posts. So I thought it would be fun just to catch up and chat on a bunch of random things.

1.  I Got The Covid Vaccine // I really can't believe it worked out but I was able to get an appointment an hour outside of Dallas at a CVS. A few weeks ago a Dallas blogger I follow posted some places that were offering the vaccine. I technically was able to qualify due to my autoimmune conditions so I went on the CVS website that night but nothing was open. So I signed up for the local county list too but never thought I would get an appointment. The next day I decided to check the CVS website again and they had appointments available. I quickly booked the two appointments and had my first Pfizer shot about two weeks ago and I go back for the next round this weekend. CVS made it super easy and was really happy with their service. I did end up getting a text the following week from the county but CVS seemed easier anyway. I did feel pretty crappy for the next two days after but I also have a lot of health issues so take my experience with a grain of salt. I am glad to be able to maybe start to get back to the gym at least after my second dose!

2. I Am Getting Back Into Golf // I don't think I ever really shared much on here but a few years ago before I moved to Dallas I was taking golf lessons. I had been interested since I was a kid and took some community lessons when I was in middle school. I didn't join any groups or keep up with it so I lost any skill I had. A few years ago I started taking classes and was really enjoying it. Then I moved to Dallas, life happened, and Covid hit. I am just now getting back into it again and I am really enjoying it. I am going to start taking lessons again next month. I have been trying to go to the driving range on the weekends and I just bought a used complete club set on Facebook Marketplace for a really good deal! These last few months have definitely made me try to get back into hobbies I have been missing.

3. I Am Trying Blue Apron // This is 100% influenced by my mom who recently has been trying it and loving it. I have been enjoying cooking more in the last year since Covid but I hate how I have to eat the same thing for days when I cook a meal. My mom suggested I give this a try and surprisingly it is not that expensive per meal. I just tried my first one tonight and so far so good. I will do a full review on the blog eventually!

4. Emily Ley's New Book Is Out // I was so busy with work today that I forgot that her new book Growing Boldly came out today. I pre-ordered it on Amazon and it got delivered today. I love her self-help books and can't wait to dive into this one.

5. I Am Going to Newport, RH For Easter // After much back and forth we finally landed on a small Easter getaway destination. I am flying to Newport, Rhode Island next weekend and my family is driving up! None of us have ever been so we are excited to check out the nautical town. I will be sure to post a travel guide all about our trip.

6. Starbucks Brown Sugar Syrup // My sister texted me last week that I had to try a Starbucks Chai with their new brown sugar syrup and oat milk. So when I was at Target this weekend I decided to give it a try and it did not disappoint! The brown sugar syrup and oat milk gives it such a creamy flavor. I think this might be my new go-to drink there.

7. It's Cadbury Mini Egg Season // I added these dark chocolate ones to my Target delivery last week. I put them in a candy dish and I hate to admit that I have been snacking on these way too much. The dark chocolate ones are so good.

8. Netflix Operation Varsity Blues // I watched this over the weekend and had to include it become I don't know if I would have picked this to watch but the preview seemed interesting. I thought it was well done and really eye-opening to the world of college admissions.

9. Browned Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies // A few weeks ago I was craving a warm soft chocolate chip cookie. I found this recipe on Pinterest and decided to give them a try. The recipe says to brown the butter over the stove to give it more of a complex flavor. I really debated if this extra step was worth it but I decided to go all in and it was definitely worth the effort. These are hands down some of the best cookies I have ever made. Maybe even the best?
