Travel With Me: Ithaca, NY

I am finally getting around to posting this long over due travel log sharing with you what I did over the Columbus Day weekend! We left Saturday and stayed until Monday in Ithaca to celebrate my dad's birthday and enjoy some time off. We rented a house in town so we got to do lots of exploring! Like I have done in past blog posts I thought it would be fun to share with you what we did in case you ever find yourself in New York. I have to admit though I was pretty bad at taking pictures so sorry for the lack of pictures. Let me know if you have any questions and enjoy!

Saturday October 8th

We left in the afternoon and drove up to Ithaca. Once we arrived in town we checked into our house we were renting which was nice and convent as it was close to everything around. Later on we went to dinner at Agava which was a VERY good Mexican style restaurant that was not super fancy but a little more fancy than your regular Mexican restaurant. We all enjoyed the food a lot (especially the chips and guacamole)! After dinner we headed to Purity Ice Cream to enjoy some dessert. The best thing about this place is that have a great selection of soy (non-dairy) ice cream which is often hard to come by!

Sunday October 9th

After we were all up and ready for the day which took awhile we headed to the Ithaca Farmers Market where they have endless food options, fresh produce, and hand made goods! I got the homemade Chinese food which was SO good. This farmers market is something everyone in the area goes to. It's definitely worth checking out! After stuffing ourselves with lunch we drove to the Little Tree Apple Orchard where we picked apples, took lots of pictures, and ate fresh apple cider donuts! We walked all around the orchard and checked out all the different types of apples. The apple orchard made for a great fall activity. Their apple cider donuts are AMAZING too so don't leave without trying one. After we were done apple picking we stopped at TJ Maxx and Old Navy to get in a little fall shopping. Once diner time came around none of us we hungry for a big dinner after eating all afternoon so we went to Ithaca Bakery to get a light dinner. We also picked up a birthday cake their for my dad's birthday! We ended the night making home made carmel apples that are to die for (recipe here)!

Monday October 10th

We had to check out a bit earlier so we woke up, packed up our stuff, and got breakfast at Waffle Frolic in the Ithaca commons. They have all different waffle toppings and combinations. I got the PBJ one which was so fresh the peanut butter was definitely homemade. We walked around the commons and then headed out for a hike before leaving. We hiked for about 3 miles before driving back home. We made one last food stop at the Cayuga Lake Creamery because our friends recommend it and the ice cream was very good!

I hope you enjoyed this trip recap as I had a fun long fall weekend!
