Clearwater Florida Travel Log

I guess I might have been in denial that summer is officially over because I had this video made literally right after we got back from our trip to Florida but I couldn't bring myself to write the blog post. I guess I hoped summer would last a little bit longer but summer is definitely nearing the end. I had my first week of classes last week and things are already in full swing. It took me a few days to get back into the routine of things which is why I didn't get too many blog posts up this past week. It is always hard to get back into a normal routine after being on summer vacation mode. Today as a last summer hurrah I am sharing with you the details of our family trip to Clearwater Florida!

Where We Stayed // We rented a beach house right outside of Clearwater in Indian Shores. We rented it through Air B&B and it could not have been more perfect. It literally was right on the ocean. You looked out any window and could get a full view of the beach. It also had a really nice deck you could look out on. It had three bedrooms, a large kitchen and two bathrooms which was perfect for our whole family.

How We Got There // We flew into the Tampa airport and took a shuttle to our Air B&B. Our grandparents drove up and had a car so we didn't need to rent a car.

What We Ate // The area has no shortage of restaurants so we tried to hit up as many local places as we would.

1. Maggie Mae's Sunrise Cafe: We had breakfast at this place the day after we arrived. The wait was a bit long but the food was very good and the portions were huge.

2. Sea Breeze Grill: We ate dinner here one night and this was probably my least favorite place simply because it was a seafood restaurant and I had better seafood at different restaurants but it might just depend on what you order. I know my parents enjoyed this restaurant and the service was very good.

3. Salt Rock Grill: This was my favorite restaurant we went to. It was the night we celebrated my birthday with my grandparents so it was bit fancy. The food was amazing, the view was great and the service was very good. I order a Moscow Mule which was also very refreshing. All around I could not recommend this place enough.

4. Salt Cracker Fish Camp: This restaurant was right in down town Clearwater and it very nice. We sat outside and ate some amazing seafood. I had fresh shrimp that were just massive.

5. Craft Kafe: We stopped here when we were in St. Pete for the day and the food was excellent. The main reason we found it was because they are known for being 100% gluten free which is not too common. Gluten free or not the food was still amazing.

6. Billy's Stone Crab // We ate here on our last night after a boat ride outside of St. Pete. The food was very good but also pretty reasonable. I had a fresh lobster that was pretty inexpensive but also very good!

What We Did //  We spent most of our time sitting by the beach and pool but we did manage to also squeeze in some fun activities too.

1. Woodhouse Day Spa St. Pete // I wanted to go to the spa for my birthday so we celebrated with a final birthday bash with my grandma. I had a hot stone message that was so relaxing. It was my first message I had. We all enjoyed the spa. Woodhouse is a franchise and the two I have been in are so relaxing.

2. Fishing on Pier 60 // We of course had to get in a bit of fishing in Clearwater. We sadly did not catch a single fish but it was a fun time.

3. Island Boat Adventure // We did this the last day of our vacation and I could not recommend it enough. We did the snorkeling day trip that was four hours. You take a large boat out to Egmont Key Island. They let you off the boat to snorkel and explore. We also saw lots of dolphins and we stopped at another small island as well. The captain and crew were so friendly.

4. Biking // We rented electric bikes and went for a long bike ride along the bike bath in Dunedin. Since the bikes are electric you can go a long distance without getting to tired or hot.

5. Tampa Mall // The one day was kind of overcast and rainy so we drove to Tampa to get in some shopping. The mall was very high end with all kinds of luxury brands. I really didn't buy anything but I LOVE window shopping in the luxury stories and dreaming about all the cute handbags.
